Texture and Layout Designs

Hey look, something for the group blogger, whee.

We decided on Monday that the purely ink wash was the best choice for the background for the rough, textured, imperfect look of the medium, so I painted up a test texture so everyone could see what it would look like without all the furniture on it.
And here's what it looks like with the furniture on the background:
Tell me if anyone has any suggestions about the design. I figured leaving the drawers black would be better since you could see the designs Eifion came up with.

Enjoy. : )

Research Videos

These are just some links to videos we watched to try and help us in creating the mood we want to put across.

The first link is called: The sea Prince and the Fire Child. About 54 seconds in the character goes into this blackness and although no one's talking, it's still not silent. The background noise sets the mood making it abit eerie, we would like to use this effect in our animation.

The Second link uses a very basic CG room, clever narrating and sounds, and simple animation to create this very unheimliche experience. It gets it's point across using a very basic set.

The third link is again using simple animation to tell it's story. The animation is centred around this poem.

Basic Storyline

The theme for this animation is phobia, specifically the fear of failure (Kakorrhaphiophobia). The animation is based round this one character's fear of failing, showing how it effects them. Basically we will only have one character, there's not going to be any direct dialogue and the character is going to be genderless. This is just the basic storyline for now.
